Indo-Iberoamerican Interactive sessions + screenings

at Whistling Woods International School , Mumbai

Ibermumbai is an initiative of the Embassy of Spain supported by the
Iberoamerican Embassies (Spanish speaking) in India & is organized in
association with Whistling Woods International LTD, Catai Tours and
Jameson in order to promote the cooperation and audiovisual exchange
between the Iberoamerican Commonwealth and India.

Ibermumbai would take place in Mumbai between the 10th and 16th of
November 2009 and the meetings as well as the film screenings will take
place at well known film academy Whistling Woods International at
Filmcity in Goreagon East. The Embassy of Spain has invited around 12
key participants from the Spanish speaking world to India along with
select well known Indian directors. Participants would also screen
films from across countries like Colombia , Venezuela , Brazil ,
Argentina , Chile , Uruguay , the Dominican Republic , Colombia ,
Ecuador , Mexico , Portugal and Peru .

Noted Indian film director Shekhar Kapur and top Spanish director Jaime
Chávarri are the key patrons of the unique event. Other prominent
attendees include well known names like Member of Parliament & Film
Maker, Shyam Benegal; award winning Film Director, Ashvin Kumar (of
Little Terrorist fame); Director of Casa de la India (India House),
Guillermo Rodríguez; Spanish Director and scriptwriter, Joaquín
Oristrell; Spanish Film Producer Beatriz de la Gándara, and the
Cultural Adviser to the Spanish Embassy in India, Gisela Serrano.

One of the main endeavors of this project is to pay tribute to the city
of Mumbai, a year after the brutal terrorist attacks of November 2008.

Ibermumbai is not just a week of cinema but an amalgamation of
interactive meetings & film screenings with the aim to promote the
exchange of experiences, organize a laboratory of ideas and to act as a
bridge to facilitate new productions and cinematographic agreements
between countries. Each day, two sessions consisting of a film
screening followed by a discussion with the guest filmmaker and the
participants (from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm) would take place.
Besides, the Embassy of Spain would also be screening different movies
simultaneously at the venue, contributed by the Iberoamerican
Embassies.

This project aims to bring together major protagonists from different
cultural spheres of the cinematographic world & to collaborate on
films, short-films & documentaries and television programs in the
future.

A press conference would mark the inauguration of this first of its
kind event on the 10th of November, 2009 at 10.30 am at Whistling
Woods, Goregaon, film city Mumbai with the following:
