The Other Song

In 1935 Rasoolan Bai the well known singer from Varanasi recorded for the
gramaphone a thumri that she would never sing again - Lagat jobanwa ma chot,
phool gendwa na maar (My breasts are wounded, don't throw flowers at me).A
variation of her more famous bhairavi thumri - Lagat karejwa ma chot,
phool gendwa na maar (My heart is wounded, don't throw flowers at me), the
1935 recording, never to be repeated, faded from public memory and
eventually got lost.

More than seventy years later the film undertakes a journey through
Varanasi,Lucknow and Muzzafarpur in Bihar to search for the forgotten
thumri.This journey opens a Pandora's box of life stories, memories, half
remembered songs and histories that for long have been banished into
oblivion. It brings the film face to face with the enigmatic figure of the
tawaif, courtesan, bai ji and the contested terrain of her art practise and
lifestyle. To understand the past and present of the tawaif the film must
unravel the significant transitions that took place in late 19th
and early 20th century around the control, censorship and moral policing of
female sexualities and cultural expression.

Buying a water purifier in mumbai

Buying a water filter is a tough job in mumbai . Due to the several different models, unhelpful staff at the head offices of the companies and at the stores selling the products.

Most of the companies make money on their service contracts and all the purifiers seem to need a yearly maintenance contract . There are a few which do not need maintenance like the aqua guard gold model but the sales reps are reluctant to show/demonstrate or don't have the brochure for this model.

Another problem is the service center in mumbai. We look for a company which has a service center near by and have a lot service contract.

most service contracts go to 2000 rupees

also there is a difference in the helpfulness of the sales reps in various outlets.

chroma - sales reps did not have any borchures and were least interested in helping or getting those borchures

star mall - had very limited options

vijay sales seem to be the most help ful and was 100 rupees less than hypercity

hypercity sales reps were helpful and read to supply brochures to the customer to make up their minds

Launch Services for Mumbai From Alibag to Mandawa Jetty

Launch services are available mostly from September to May. In the rainy season, launch services do not operate. There are various types of launch services available e.g. Catamaran services offering air conditioned and non-airconditioned accommodation, normal ferry boats service etc. Mostly launch services are available between 6.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. They take on an average two hours duration from Alibag to Gateway of India, Mumbai. From Alibag to Mandawa Jetty , there is bus service and from Mandawa Jetty to Gateway of India, there is Launch service. Combined charges for bus service from Alibag to Mandawa Jetty and launch service from Mandawa Jetty to Gateway of India, Mumbai and vice versa are taken by all launch operators. Buses start right from Alibag itself for all types of launch services run by all operators.
